Equity does not mean everybody has stuff
At home not all of our students have Internet access - how do we solve the after 3:30 dilemma?
Technology should not be a reward
Data is Important - Test scores and attitudinal data - focus on the trend data. Make an effort to dig in and look at data, i.e. Male 4th grade oral fluency
Attitudinal data is important as well
Effective Professional Development - Must be data connected and connected to standards and curriculum...ex)Second grade oral reading fluency
Walk the walk - Talk the talk - Model what your expectations -
The leader must be the expert - The leader must be doing it themselves
If the leader will not use it, the troops have every right not to
Good example is Google Forms...pick 3 for the year, that's a good start. Another example is podcast with Audacity
Linking Google docs with Wordle is another quick and easy activity to do with staff
Reward Growth
Genuine and Meaningful Reflection - jot out notes that are meaningful. NSDC says givign and receiving reflection are crucial. WHat's do-able for me?
Student driven technology - Encourage students to manage the "stuff". Synching, united streaming, interactive whiteboards. Have the students handle the connections. I'm certain the students can handle this. Can the students handle much of this?
Personal Learning Network
Give things like Twitter and blogs a bigger chance to enhance your personal learning. Don't knock it until you give it a try.
